«Sanki» Sliding Center
Brief information on the venue:
- The course is going to host competitions in bobsleigh, skeleton and luge.
- The luge and bobsleigh course in Sochi is the first course in Russia intended to host events at the international level. There are no more than 20 such courses in the entire world.
- The course runs along the northern slope of Aibga Ridge near the village of Krasnaya Polyana, and it is protected from direct sunlight.
- The course follows the existing relief of the terrain to the maximum degree possible; it is 1814 m long, of which 314 m represent an outrun area.
- The highest point of the Sliding Center "Sanki" is located at an elevation of 836 m above sea level, and its lowest point is located at 704 m.
- The maximum speed is 135 km/h;
- The luge and bobsleigh course is the safest and longest such course in the world. The course has three negative slopes and high banking boards.
